FIAT 124 Sport 1608cc BC Coupe

These Fiat Sport Cars were desperately underrated, having the features of much more exotic machinery as standard.

124 Sport Coupés were very modern in chassis and engine design. Braking was via four 9" disc brakes with a front/rear weight-sensitive proportioning valve. It also had a sealed cooling system, viscous fan clutch and a toothed timing belt for the (Lampredi) twin-cam motor, which made it the first mass-produced engine to feature this instead of the usual chain-drive system.

The Fiat 124 Sport Coupe with the 1608cc engine (as fitted in this car) came with dual Weber 40 IDF downdraft carburettors unlike the regular 124 coupes which were equipped with a single twin choke carburettor, and the 1608 cc motor is a perfectly square engine, its bore being 80mm and its stroke being 80mm. This gives the engine the ability, when combined with the camshafts and proper carburettors, to rev to high RPMs. The Fiat 124 Coupe with the 1608cc engine could also be distinguished by the rev counter marked to 9000 RPM, all other Fiat 124 Coupe models had an 8000 RPM rev counter.

This particular Fiat 124 Sport Coupe is a one owner car from its first date of registration in 1971 and is finished in Fiat 456 Dark Blue with complementing red internals, and has been meticulously maintained and cared for ... and it shows. Having covered only 40,000kms in its life and just having recently passed the British MOT Test with "No Advisories" this splendid car is awaiting its new owner.
